DAL Global Services Additive Manufacturing Engineer in Atlanta, Georgia


Delta Global Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Delta Air Lines, Inc., has an Additive Manufacturing Engineer Job in Atlanta, GA through our Staffing Division. In the Additive Manufacturing Engineer Job, the candidatewill advance the introduction of additive manufacturing (AM) technology in to Engine Maintenance Repair & Support Shops, through selected AM parts manufacturing programs.


  • Assist in developing the selected AM manufacturing process technical specifications, AM process parameters and repair/part quality requirements.

  • AM engineer will work closely with other engineering specialists and FAA representatives to develop the engineering data, test procedures, substantiation and FAR compliance packages needed to obtain FAA approvals for the AM parts.


  • Undergraduate engineering degree (from an accredited institution) in Mechanical Engineering with a Materials Science minor or Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science Engineering.

  • Have 2+ years of experience in metal additive manufacturing.

  • Top 3 skills needed: Metal Additive Manufacturing using laser powder bed fusion technology; metallurgical analysis and mechanical properties testing; scanning and reverse engineering.

  • Soft skills needed: Be safety conscious; have good written and oral communications; be a team player; be approachable and customer friendly; require minimal supervision; follow rules, policies and procedures and have a compliance mind set.

  • Preference will be given to candidates who have a combination of some or all of the following: - 2 to 3 years’ direct experience in metallic materials powder bed fusion or direct metal laser melting or selective laser meting technologies used to manufacture parts made of nickel based super-alloys, cobalt based alloys, titanium alloys and high strength steels used in aircraft and aircraft engine applications is required.

  • Hands-on experience in operating AM laser or electron beam powder bed fusion equipment is desirable.

  • Hands-on experience in reverse engineering, scanning, modeling and digitizing part geometries for use in AM manufacturing/repair process is desirable.

  • Familiarity (through direct usage) of software such as SolidWorks, Magics, DesignX, SpaceClaim and/or Materialise is also desirable.

  • Knowledge and experience in SEM and light microscopy, metallography, fractography and conducting tensile and fatigue tests are desirable.
